INDICATIONS

• Active benign gastric ulcer, active duodenal ulcer.
• Gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GERD).
• Gastrointestinal hypersecretory conditions such as Zollinger–Ellison syndrome and multiple endocrine neoplasia.
   

DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION

Gastric and duodenal ulcer: 40 mg once daily at bedtime or 20 mg twice daily (morning and evening). Duration of treatment: 4–8 weeks.
Prevention of relapse: 20 mg once daily at bedtime.
Gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GERD): 20 mg twice daily (morning and evening) for 6 weeks. If oesophagitis is present: 20–40 mg twice daily, treatment extended to 12 weeks.
Gastric hypersecretory conditions (Zollinger–Ellison syndrome, multiple endocrine neoplasia): 20 mg every 6 hours, with dose adjustment as required and continued long-term according to clinical indication. In severe cases of Zollinger–Ellison syndrome, the dose may be increased up to 160 mg every 6 hours.
Severe renal impairment: In patients with creatinine clearance < 10 mL/min, the dose should be reduced to 20 mg once daily at bedtime, or the dosing interval should be extended to 36–48 hours, depending on clinical response.
 

CONTRAINDICATIONS

Hypersensitivity to the drug or to any of its excipients.
Children.
