Long Chau partners with STADA Pymepharco to disseminate medical knowledge on the prevention of overweight, obesity, and promote safe weight loss

Overweight and obesity are becoming a growing public health concern worldwide as well as in Vietnam. With efforts toward a healthier Vietnam, Long Chau has partnered with STADA Pymepharco to roll out a series of meaningful community initiatives aimed at raising awareness of safe, scientific, and reliable weight management.

Through training and communication collaboration, STADA Pymepharco and Long Chau have converted international medical knowledge into practical application in Vietnam, supporting efforts to address the growing burden of overweight and obesity. The initiative represents an important step in the long-term, comprehensive strategic partnership between the Long Chau pharmacy and vaccination center network and STADA Pymepharco, a member of the STADA Groupm – one of the leading German pharmaceutical companies.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), approximately 16% of adults aged 18 and above worldwide were living with obesity in 2022, with the prevalence of global obesity rates doubling between 1990 and 2022.

In Vietnam, around 25% of adults are currently overweight or obese. Particularly concerning is the sharp rise among school-aged children and adolescents (aged 5–19), where the rate doubled from 8.5% in 2010 to 19% in 2020, wit urban areas accounting for 26.8%. According to medical experts, overweight and obesity contribute to numerous serious health conditions, significantly increasing the risk and earlier onset of non-communicable diseases, such as musculoskeletal disorders, neurological complications, type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and cancer. Beyond individual health impacts, obesity also places a considerable burden on society through rising healthcare costs and reduced labor productivity.
 

Long Chau and STADA Pymepharco conducted in-depth medical training sessions to enhance healthcare professional’s  competence in consultation and clinical pharmacy practice.

Within the program framework, Long Chau and STADA Pymepharco organized health screening sessions including BMI assessments, blood pressure measurement, electrocardiograms (ECG), and personalized consultations. Through these activities, the two partners jointly conveyed and delivered the message “Safe weight loss starts with the right understanding”, helping raise public awareness of the risks associated with overweight and obesity, as well as evidence-based and safe weight management approaches.

At the same time, leveraging its extensive and community-based network, Long Chau pharmacy and vaccination center system worked closely with STADA Pymepharco to bring healthcare services closer to people. Participants received individualized BMI analysis and counseling from healthcare professionals, enabling them to better understand their physical condition and identify potential risks early. In addition, medical teams also provided guidance on safe and scientific weight management, emphasizing the importance of accurate information, adherence to medical advice, and the adoption of a healthy lifestyle.

Through close collaboration, Long Chau and STADA Pymepharco help bring medical knowledge on obesity prevention and safe weight management closer to the community.

In parallel, Long Chau and STADA Pymepharco conducted in-depth medical training sessions for pharmacists and healthcare professionals to further enhance counseling capabilities and clinical pharmacy practice. Accordingly, through these sessions, both sides discussed and updated  medical knowledge and clinical evidence related to disease pathology, modern weight management, and evidence-based approaches toward overweight and obesity prevention.

Through this effort, Long Chau continues to affirm its role as an “extended arm” and an important link within the healthcare system, bringing standardized medical knowledge closer to the public and supporting people on a journey of proper weight management – with correct understanding, sufficient knowledge, appropriate treatment, safety, and scientific rigor. Building on this foundation, STADA Pymepharco and the STADA Group reaffirm their commitment to standing alongside Long Chau in standardizing medical counseling and enhancing healthcare quality for people in Vietnam.

Through this series of activities, the two organizations demonstrate their ongoing dedication to spreading medical knowledge, while raising public awareness of disease knowledge and proactive healthcare awareness nationwide. Previously, Long Chau and STADA Pymepharco signed a comprehensive strategic partnership partnership to bring German-standard healthcare solutions closer to millions of Vietnamese families.
