INDICATIONS

Treatment of herpes simplex virus infections of the skin, including initial and recurrent herpes labialis and genital herpes.

DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION

• Unless otherwise prescribed by a physician, follow the instructions below to ensure effective and safe treatment.
• Apply a thin layer of cream to the affected areas five times daily, approximately every 4 hours.
• Use a cotton swab to apply a sufficient amount of cream.
• Apply not only to visible lesions (blisters, swelling, erythema) but also to adjacent areas.
• Hands must be washed thoroughly before and after application to prevent secondary infection or viral spread.
• Notice: For optimal response, treatment should be initiated as early as possible, preferably at the first signs of herpes infection (tingling, itching, discomfort, erythema).
• Duration of treatment: Treatment is usually continued for 5 days, but may be extended in severe cases until lesions have crusted or healed completely. Treatment duration should not exceed 10 days.
   

CONTRAINDICATIONS

Hypersensitivity to acyclovir or to any of the excipients.
Do not apply Acyclovir STADA®  to mucous membranes (e.g. mouth, eyes, vagina) due to the risk of local irritation.
Use with particular caution in patients with severe immunodeficiency. Consultation with a physician is required before initiation of therapy in such cases.
